The 5 day break made me change priorities (sorry if I am confusing you KD!). Was going to go for a winger, but I have instead decided to go for a LB and thus have my defence sorted. I've gone for another attacking fullback who scored 18 goals for the club. Started off as a wing-half but Shankly moved him further back and he made the LB spot his own. I give you Alec Lindsay.

Well I'm delighted to say that with the exception of Lawler (who would have been a nice luxury to have in my side) no one has picked up the player I was after. Another Legend of Liverpool, At the club for 19 years (4 years lost due to WW1), captain of the club for 8 years leading LFC to back-to back titles in the 1920's. Best known as a defender, he was the Steve Nicol of his day, able to play in just about any position, which gives my side total flexibility now. He also scored a Xabi Alonso type goal from inside his own half against West ham, and was Liverpools first free kick specialist.
He is....Donald MacKinlay

My next player is a midfielder who was souness and messi rolled into one, he scored 32 goals in one season from left back, and he made the tea at half-time. His career was cut short by WW1, he had 378 appearances and played in any position when called upon. Bob Shankley said, "i wished i had patsy in my sides". I pick Patsy Kennedy.

In the tradition of taking my picks from out of leftfield (mostly) and in need of another striker, I'm taking The Man from Del Monte. From LFCHistory: The British record transfer of Stan Collymore came about in a funny way:
The receptionist at a holiday hotel in St. Lucia looked slightly puzzled when she took down a telephone message for Liverpool manager Roy Evans. It said: "The Man from Del Monte would like to say Yes."
When Roy read the coded message, which had been delivered to his room, he was estatic. It meant his major summer target, Stan Collymore, had agreed to join the Reds. And 24 hours earlier Roy had interrupted his family holiday in the Caribbean to fly to London for talks with the Nottingham Forest striker.
Roy Evans; "The cloak-and-dagger stuff was necessary, even if it did give people the impression that I was a dealer in canned fruit! We didn't want the news broadcasting until he had actually put pen to paper. He was the man we wanted and the market price had to be met. Other clubs were also bidding. I believe a great relationship will be built up between Stan and our supporters." Too bad he couldn't last longer with us. Was it depression that caused him to self-destruct, or was it his lack of social skills that aggravated his depression? Who knows. All I know is he was a great talent who knew what the back of the net looked like. Was really excited when he signed for us from Forest, and thought we'd gone one-up on the Mancs who'd taken Andy Cole. ----- 1. I needed to add some steel to my midfield and what better enforcer to go toe-to-toe without fear with the likes of Souness and McMahon than the tough-tackling and energetic Momo Sissoko:

2. Hyypia Legend picks:- Hansen, Hughes, McMahon, Babbel, Luis Garcia, Anelka, Staunton

I thought for sure either you or Nerik were gonna get him. To be honest I totally forgot about him and whilst I have read about that era of the club's history it is not a period I know too much about. Hence why most of my choices are from the Shankly era onwards.

Before his eye injury he was an awesome physical barrier (and fouling machine) for us. Never really got back to his early form after that, and Mascherano's arrival put paid to his stay here, but I'd always remember him fondly for his attitude.
