Like I stated in the Everton match thread. We've got a chance of pushing for the top 3 now. I'll be cheering on Chelsea tomorrow that's for sure

Yep...lets go Les Bleus!  Although I do hope John Terry breaks his leg.

One step at a time etc. If Arsenal lose against Chelsea I can see us have a chance in this game. If they do not I am afraid they may be too much to contain on Wed.

And if we lose to Arsenal we could be back down to 7th. Don't get excited too soon.

Just watched the match again and mascherano was brilliant at RB! I know this wont happen but this is a formation I would love to see against arsenal:

               Pepe
Mash  Carra  Agger  Insua
               Lucas
Kuyt      Aquilani    Maxi
          Gerrard
                  Ngog

I think a draw between Arsenal and Chelsea would be the best result for us, that way we're two points closer to Chelsea, and only one more point farther from Arsenal. If that makes any sense. I can see team's slipping this season, and we need to be in pole position to grab any chances. We might be contenders for a top three spot this season after all.

Would like Chelsea to beat the Gunners (sorry zaph) because that would hit their spirits a bit. Although they might get motivated to play harder against us, that's the lesser of two evils to me, compared to the lift they'll get if they win and think they're back in the title race.

Prefer:
             Reina
Degen/Kelly Carra Agger Aurelio
Maxi  Masch Gerrard  Riera
            Aquilani
              Kuyt

Expect:
             Reina
Carra  Skrtel  Agger  Insua
Kuyt  Lucas  Masch  Riera
            Gerrard
             N'gog

Ey, we need Chelsea to stuff Arsenal.
Reason one is there's no way we're gonna catch Chelsea, but we CAN can Arsenal.
Reason 2, I'm a proper Liverpool fan, I can't stand United and Would Rather anyone win the league than them. Anyway, even if there wasn't a big rivalry between Liverpool and United I still wouldn't want them to win the league as they'd then have more League titles than us.

So, We need Chelsea to get maximum points today so they have more chance of winning the league, and we need Arsenal to get fukall so we have more chance of coming 3rd.

It's only good if we can capitalize on Wednesday and beat the Gunners at their home; something we've failed to do for something like 10 years I think.   Chelsea's second counter was just devastating.  Again exposes Arsenal's inability to be direct and finish off a move.

I cannot see us beating Arsenal at the Emirates though.  We have to press them at every opportunity, knock them off their stride with some tough tackling, and not give them any time on the ball.  We'll miss the Greek for this game, won't we?

As for Masch at right back, We wouldn't get as much out of him at right back as he'd be stuck over there only able to make challenges when an attack comes down Arsenals left, in the middle he gets everywhere across the center.

I don't think we'll win also, basically due to our attacking play being poor all season. Sure we're defending great lately, but we're still not finishing games off, against Arsenal I think we'll struggle to score.

I think we'll do better than some have given us credit for. Our previous match against Arsenal was very much a game of two halves. We played really well until they scored - and once they did, basically the game got away from us. However, with confidence riding higher than before, and our defence not looking as shaky, I think we stand a good chance to go to Emirates and nab 1 point. Arsenal have a very young team, with a lot of skill. But as we know from our own fortunes this year, skill doesn't count for everything in football(well we apparently "don't have any" and were doing ok).

We'll have to work hard across the park as per usual, and this time focus on not giving the ball away. It'll be important to stay level - and the longer we go in the game without conceding, the more likely it is that their young guys will cave, and concede a goal when they are least expecting.
