Just disappointing and shows we're far off where we should be. We do actually have to invest heavily this time around too if we want to be in the Champions League. A defensive midfielder (Lucas and Spearing is not enough for that position.) We need two wingers and we need a quality forward who can score goals. Wrong signings for this year, maybe they'll be better for next year. Just really disappointing.

Best team won, no disputing that. We had too little movement up front and bar a 10mins spell in the 1st half and some possession late on, we did not do much all game. Two silly goals to concede and I think Johnson was at fault for the 1st and as culpable as Spearing for the 2nd.

I know tensions are a bit shaky so early from the match, but Suarez clearly disobeyed his boss's pre-match orders:

"People are already speculating on the pre-match ceremony, but from Luis's point of view we have spoken to him and I know he will shake the hand of Patrice Evra and the other Manchester United players before the game."

And yes, what Evra did was a disgrace as well.

Seems like he did, which is probably the biggest fallout of it all i.e. with his boss. Two people hating each other shaking hands in the name of whatever people want to mention as a good thing, is stupid. If I dislike someone I do not shake his hand. Makes me less of a hypocrite than those who shake hands and then go in and do that same opponent with an elbow for example.

Will not comment about what Evra did.

I didnt mind evra celebrating at the end, but how he ran over to do it in front of suarez was out of line, he had held the moral high ground right up until that point. But even at the hand shake, he sought the enarest camera immediately to look at and complain.

Obviously suarez was stupid not to shake hands, it was very stupid IMO. But i think evra has come out of this squeky clean and im not entirely sure thats the way it should be.
He should be done in a review for inciting behavour IMO at the end. they cant do suarez for it for the non handshake cause there was a precedent set when bridge went unpunished for not doing it.

To be honest, I think suarez is gonna always be trouble. He lets his emotions over run him and you always felt he could do anything at any moment. Regardless of what people here are trying to say, he kicked parker on purppose last week and today his behaviour, was unacceptable at times. Not that he did anything that much wrong but he is a role model to kids and I can see why people from other clubs now hate us!

A pre-match handshake is just a handshake, and the game could well be without them.

If players do shake hands, it hardly means everything is necessarily alright between them. But if one of them refuses, it does risk escalating further tensions among players, or worse yet, the fans.

I don't think this tradition serves much purpose nowadays.

A lot of the post match focus seems to be on the handshake.

I believe there should have been another talking point and that was the Ferdinand challenge on Suarez right before half time.  It was a foul and it should have been a red card because Ferdinand was the last defender there.

In the end Utd probably deserved it because they wanted it more.  We seemed to be playing for the draw and when they scored twice early in the second half, it was always going to be tough for us.

Three players were particularly found wanting:  Spearing, Henderson and Downing.

Dalglish's reluctance to sub off Henderon was baffling.  Dalglish opted to shift the player to the right when he should have been subbed off.  Hendo offered absoluetely nothing from there.

As for Spearing and Downing, the lesser said the better.  They were simply playing against opponents that were way beyond their own levels and they found it really tough.
